A lot of work for a cookie
We have been rather lax about potty instruction. We have given information, tried to help him sit, let him pee on the floor if he was already in mid-letdown, talked about how he'll use the potty all the time when he's a grown-up, let him watch Daddy. But he hasn't cared about it really. He hates to sit on his little potty - "It'th COLD." So there has been really no perceptible progress, and we were starting to think we'd better get it together pretty soon
So when he started to pee on the bathroom floor 2 nights ago, I had the idea to quickly pull the potty over in front of him and help him aim into it. No big deal, right? But we praised and praised him, gave him a cookie, etc. And then it happened again last night. And then tonight, while Mommy was on the computer and Daddy was on the phone and Punie had no dipe on, he went off by himself somewhere, and the tiny gentle sound of trickling rang through the land! We rushed in, and a calm and complacent child was standing beside a half-full potty!
YOWZA!
"Did you pee in the potty?!?!"
"Yeah."
"Did you hold and aim and put it all in there?!?!"
"Yeah." Beat. "And now y'can have a COOKIE."
You bet, buddy. Now you absolutely can have a cookie.
