Get over your blogging selves and those you're jealous of
I know she's the latest bandwagon and all, but I just can't get why some of the mommy bloggers hate Isabel over at AlphaMom. I remember somebody ( alittlepregnant.com maybe?) writing an absolutely hateful review of an interview with her, making her out to be an overprivileged ridiculous out-of-touch woman who was doing nothing but capitalizing on her motherhood. (As if the reviewer weren't doing exactly that, or the writer of the original article for that matter -- his anti-woman venom was pretty complete, and all of ALP's readers played right into his misogynist hand.) But I like her blog. I don't care that she's making a living by (at least partly) writing about her life, and making TV of mothering advice. You don't like it, don't read it or watch it. I'm not a fan of all the blogs over there myself, but I'm not in a twist about it.
Of course, I'm not pitching a fit about not getting paid to blog, either. That's the newest thing I've finally become aware of -- bloggers who want to stay home with their toddlers, complaining on their blogs that no one will pay them to yammer out their opinions. Leaving said blog basically a collection of posts apologizing for infrequent posting, and angsting about whether to keep blogging and what oh what to blog about now that life has simmered down -- but oh please pay me to blog so boringly, I'm sure I'd become scintillating if only I had the proper cash motivation! Good grief. If you don't have any more ideas, shut it down. If you want to change the format, start a new blog and post a link.
