"Should I be a feminist? No, feminism is too uncool, boys won't like me!"
Do you know what I am a little tired from?
I am a little tired from constantly having to school young women about why Hillary Rodham Clinton is the candidate for them. Not Barak "I'm young and cool" Obama - Hillary Rodham Clinton. A feminist, who has consistently fought for the very things that those same young women like and need so much. A woman who, like them, used to be young and bright and cool and passionate early. A person who has already proved, in the crucible of D.C., that she can fucking survive the fight, an essential quality in a president. A person who I can absolutely see going toe to toe with the scary people of the world, and getting them to back the hell down - and doing it because she is keeping little children in her mind, with love and understanding.
Yeah, so she bought some cheap real estate and sold it high. Yeah, she's a girl - the thing other women seem to fear most. Yeah, she stayed with her cheating husband and worked it out. She is the best person for the job. She is the candidate with the strongest stable political record. She is the only candidate who really looks at the world the way a woman does.
I am never going to get another chance to vote for a woman for president, not one that has a real chance of winning. Those younger women don't realize it, but they might not get another chance either.
I am not going to waste my one chance. It makes me weep for myself and for younger women, that they are willing to waste theirs.
